The University of Greenwich is now a partner in the UBEL (UCL, Bloomsbury and East London) Doctoral Training Partnership funded by the Economic and Social Research. Within this partnership, outstanding students can apply for studentships at NRI, either through the Climate, Environment and Development route under the International Development Pathway, or the Intersectional Gender Inequalities route under the Gender and Sexuality Pathway (this route involves potential supervisors from NRI and other parts of the University of Greenwich).

More information on the Climate, Environment and Development route is available here.

For information on the Intersectional Gender Inequalities route, please contact Professor Tracey Reynolds (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

The opportunity with UBEL is highly competitive, with an overall success rate of around 1 in 20. Because of ESRC policies outside the control of UBEL or NRI, we regret to say that places for international students are especially limited.

UBEL runs a two-stage application process. The window for preliminary applications for PhDs starting in autumn 2025 is now open, with a deadline of 2 December 2024. Applicants should contact potential supervisors in NRI (listed in the link given above) to discuss their applications but must apply through the UBEL website and follow the instructions there carefully.
